Index the way sampling works
Organize by assertion — existence, completeness, valuation, rights and obligations, presentation — then by account. Cross-link the app export that proves the balance. When a PBC list arrives, you retrieve by assertion path, not by memory of who emailed what.
Name files for humans and for search
Include period, entity, and document type in the filename. Avoid “final_final2.” Your future self during fieldwork is a different person with less patience.
Link, do not duplicate endlessly
Duplicate PDFs drift out of sync. Prefer a single source linked from the financial auditing app task. Version only when the underlying support truly changes, and note why in the task comment.
